The ReSurg® system is available in two surface options that position air fluidized therapy over the bony prominences most prone to pressure injuries. Integrated side rails with pendant controls, a built-in scale, and an interactive control screen support patient independence and daily care.

Air Fluidized Therapy (AFT) has been used to effectively treat complex patients with chronic wounds for decades. This provides excellent pressure redistribution and moisture management while reducing the friction and shear that cause pressure ulcers, features critical for treating stage III and IV pressure injuries. As an advanced therapeutic surface, the air-fluidized bed creates an ideal healing environment for patients with complex wounds who need more than a standard support surface.
Benefits of Air Fluidized Therapy
The air fluidized therapy bed, sometimes referred to as a “sand bed”, is filled with silicone-coated microspheres that fluidize under warm air, creating a fluid-like surface that conforms to the patient’s body. By immersing and enveloping the body across a larger surface area, air fluidized therapy supports normal blood flow and improves patient comfort during long periods in bed. It also reduces the mechanical stress of friction and shear, which can lead to pressure ulcers and skin breakdown. The variable-temperature airflow regulates heat and moisture at the skin, inhibiting bacterial growth and supporting healing, making it well-suited to bedbound patients or those at high risk of developing pressure sores.
Unlike solid surfaces or traditional air cushions and air mattresses that rely on alternating pressure reduction, air fluidized therapy provides continuous immersion, functioning as a pressure-reducing support surface for advanced wound care.
