Reduce Pressure & Increase Patient Comfort with AFT
Air Fluidized Therapy (AFT) has been used to effectively treat complex patients with chronic wounds for decades. AFT reduces risk factors for pressure injuries and accelerates the healing process. Fluidization technology provides excellent pressure redistribution and moisture management, product features critical for treating stage III and IV pressure injuries.
Benefits of Air Fluidized Therapy
The Air Fluidized Therapy (AFT) bed, sometimes referred to as a “sand bed”, is filled with silicone-coated microspheres that resemble white sand. Warm air is forced upward through these microspheres and creates a dynamic fluid-like state. This fluid support optimizes immersion and envelopment, conforming to the patient’s body. The fluid-like environment also reduces the mechanical stress of friction and shear, which can cause pressure ulcers and skin breakdown. The variable temperature air flow rates regulate heat and moisture to inhibit bacterial growth and support healing.
Air fluidized technology is uniquely different from surfaces composed of solid materials or traditional air cushions, which may offer alternating pressure reduction.

Power Through Healing: Meet Jeff
I cannot stress enough how lucky and grateful I am to have found Ethos. When I nearly lost my lifesaving Clinitron, Ethos was there, going above and beyond. Since my accident all those years ago, my family and I have continued to thrive. I’ve even won several major handcycling races, including multiple Boston Marathons. If it weren’t for the Ethos staff, I wouldn’t have the opportunity I have today, and for that my family and I are forever grateful.

FAQS
AFT is a specialized therapy bed filled with silicone-coated microspheres that resemble white sand. Warm air fluidizes the microspheres, creating a fluid-like surface that reduces pressure, friction, and shear on the skin, which are key factors in preventing and healing stage III and IV pressure injuries.
Unlike solid surfaces or alternating pressure air cushions, AFT provides continuous immersion of the body. This creates optimal pressure redistribution and moisture management, reducing mechanical stress and supporting the healing process.
AFT is ideal for bedbound patients, patients with limited mobility, and patients with chronic or complex wounds or at high risk of developing them.
