Air Fluidized Therapy has set a very high bar in wound healing that is unmatched by air mattress technology. However, for many chronic wound care patients healing at home, having an air fluidized therapy bed in their residence is just not feasible. With both our own Emerg® mattress and the Joerns® Dolphin Fluid Immersion Simulation®, Ethos offers solutions that push the boundaries of immersion mattress technology to meet the needs of these patients.

This system customizes fluid-like surface immersion by automatically sensing and adjusting the pressure environment specific to the patient’s therapy needs.

Higher Immersion Than Leading Market Competitor

The larger the area of contact between the body and a surface, the better the pressure redistribution. Immersion into a surface increases the body’s contact to optimize pressure distribution.

Immersion therapy beds provide more surface contact and envelopment than a standard therapy surface system. Ethos engineered the Emerg® therapy mattress to provide higher immersion rates than what can be found in leading market systems, offering improved automation, safety, and simplicity.

      • Automation: Unlike competitive products that require continued caregiver input, this unique immersion technology consistently maintains the ideal therapy setting
      • Side Bolster Safety: For more mobile patients, these bolsters improve edge stability
      • Convenient Touchscreen: Our simplified user interface includes a touchscreen and additional features that make it easier for patients and caregivers to use
      • Emergency Power Capabilities: This mattress is designed to continue therapy for up to eight hours without electricity, providing vital support during power outages in the home

      FAQs

Air Fluidized Therapy (AFT) beds use silicone-coated microspheres and warm airflow to create a fluid-like surface that distributes pressure evenly and minimizes friction and shear. Immersion mattresses provide specialized support by reducing pressure points, but do not create the fluidized environment of an AFT bed.

These support surfaces are designed for patients with conditions that leave them bedbound or with reduced mobility. This can include Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, or spinal cord injuries.

No, only the Emerg® mattress is designed by Ethos. While we also offer the Dolphin FIS System®, it is made by Joerns® and has different design and technology specifications.
